VALERIO MARINIG / OUR HISTORY

Winemakers since 1808 in
the Colli Orientali del Friuli

Our wines are born in Prepotto, in the Colli Orientali del Friuli (Eastern Hills of Friuli), from strong values such as land and family, as well as a region with a history and tradition of vine cultivation. It has been this way for generations: since 1808, we have dedicated ourselves with unwavering enthusiasm to the art of vine and wine.

LAND

Our lands are made of sandstone and marl: the “ponca”, generous mother of our grapes

MICROCLIMATE

From the sea, gentle winds that lighten the climate flow to these hills well exposed to the sun.

TRAINING SYSTEMS

Our primary training system is double inverted guyot, limiting the yield per hectare and improving the quality of the grapes

VARIETIES

If Friuli is mainly a land of white wines, Prepotto is the territory of striking red ones.

VINIFICATION

The white wines mostly vinify in steel. The reds, almost all of them, are aged 24-36 months in barrique.

CHARACTERISTICS

We promote a style that makes the most of terroir: fresh, aromatic white wines and soft but impactful red ones

VALERIO MARINIG / PREPOTTO VINEYARDS

Eight hectares of vineyards
in Prepotto, favoured by a unique microclimate

Our vineyards extend in the territory of Prepotto, on the hills surrounding the valley of the Judrio river: the vines (often from ancient plantings) are supported by minerals-rich soils comprised primarily of clayey-calcareous marls of Eocene origin. The climate is very favourable: it is moderated by the Adriatic winds, and in late summer, when the harvest is nearing, temperature changes favour the aromatic structure of wines, to which they add a particular spiciness.

VALERIO MARINIG / OUR PHILOSOPHY

Wine is made in
the vineyard and achieves excellence in the cellar

The quality and pleasantness of the wine depend on the quality of the grapes, and the latter is achieved with vine training systems that preserve their historicity and integrity, preferring natural grassing of the rows and minimizing treatments. The rest of the work is done in the cellar, following tradition and the characteristics dictated by the Colli Orientali del Friuli area, typical of each varietal.

VALERIO MARINIG / OUR WINES

International and native Friulian
classics

We have always enjoyed trying our hand and giving our best with the grape varieties of the great international tradition, both whites and reds, but our heart belongs entirely to the distinctive varieties of our Friuli: Friulano, Schioppettino di Prepotto, Refosco, Pignolo... And, speaking of “heart” reds, our Biel Cûr, a blend obtained from Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, Schioppettino and Pignolo, is the true embodiment of our great passion and the land that feeds it.

VALERIO MARING / TESTIMONIALS

Our winery and wines in the
words of visitors

Fantastic wines....super winery and friendly people. Very good quality price. Highly recommend.

Ivo Gabrielli

In addition to the welcome I received (superlative to say the least) I would like to dwell on a personal judgment regarding the wines: among the BEST I have drunk. A quality/price ratio hard to match, a year of aging in my cellar and today I drank a Friulano like I haven't had in a long time. Congratulations.

Ivan Centis

A winery whose expertise and friendliness we appreciated from Ms. Michela whose products we tasted were of absolute quality. The whites very fragrant, Pinot bianco and Sauvignon above all to finish with a Biel Cur and a Schioppettino of great structure and rich in extracts. A thank you , said by some Piedmontese, for the valuable degustation.

Gian Piero Ardissone

Family-run winery, open, friendly people and very willing to entertain with explanations of winemaking techniques, excellent wines at appropriate prices, recommend purchases!

Rino Vian

Every wine is a joy and the family is a wonderful host. Every time I visit Italy I have a case of Marinig wine shipped to me. For lunch nearby I also recommend Trattoria da Mario.
